Over 40 local exhibitors gathered at the University of North Texas Gateway Center to showcase their abilities to help Denton residents and businesses plan their next big events.
The 2013 Planner’s Zone, hosted by the Denton Convention and Visitors Bureau, featured businesses such as hotels, transportation companies, promotional organizations, caterers, restaurants and more.
Each of these organizations set up booths to not only showcase what products and services they provide, but to meet face-to-face with potential customers.
From the variety of food samples to special offers, the overall goal was to show that everyone’s party planning needs can be met right here in Denton.
Dana Lodge, Denton Director of Sales, says our community doesn’t need to venture out to larger neighboring cities to plan an upcoming meeting or event.
“We started the event to show the community that they could keep their event in Denton,” Dana said. “We have hospitality partners that are ready to help them to make sure their event is successful and they could hold it here.”
Chamber of Commerce members like Jim Murray, owner of Prairie House Restaurant, use this annual event to their advantage.
By showcasing his restaurant and catering services each year at the Planner’s Zone, Jim says he’s had the opportunity to close several deals with customer’s right there on the floor.
“I always seem to make several good contacts here at this outing,” Jim said. “It’s definitely worth doing, especially if you can get in one cater here that repeats throughout the year.”
