Denton is a town full of local businesses eager to meet your shopping needs. Small businesses in this community are especially looking for consumers to buy their products and services.
November 30 has been dedicated to these businesses. As the holiday season approaches, towns across the nation will be celebrating “Small Business Saturday.”
Created three years ago, “Small Business Saturday” is always the Saturday after Thanksgiving. It’s a day dedicated to driving shoppers to local merchants.
Shop local on Small Business Saturday
Denton businesses like Cookies by Design and Foster’s Western Wear encourage shoppers to look to their businesses not just on this Saturday, but anytime of the year.
Phyllis Pittman, owner of Cookies by Design, believes customers get a more personalized one-on-one service when they shop with an independent business owner. She says these customers can also benefit from the wide-variety of shopping options available to them locally.
“If you take the time to look around, you will see that you can get most anything you need right here in Denton,” Pittman said. “With rising gas prices and online shipping charges, you can get the best value shopping here.”
Mark Foster, owner of Foster’s Western Wear agrees and says Denton is fortunate to have a lot of locally owned businesses.
“Their numbers could shrink without the support of the community,” said Foster.
He believes small businesses and the community mutually benefit from one another.
“Small business donate to local churches, charities, schools fair and other community events or individuals who are in distress,” Foster said. “In turn, the community needs to support them because they (businesses) are the community too.”
“Small Business Saturday” is a chance for local businesses to show off their holiday deals. These businesses also encourage shoppers to look at their holiday deals.
Cookies by Design offers cookie gifts for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Hanukkah and New Years while Foster’s Western Wear will be having weekly and daily specials all throughout the season.
While out shopping looking for the perfect holiday gifts, remember the small businesses right here in Denton. “Small Business Saturday” is a great way to show how much you value your community and the businesses that help keep Denton unique.
