WINC’s Red, White and Jazz: Serving up connections

With nearly 120 people in attendance, the May 7 Women in Commerce (WINC) Red, White and Jazz event proved to be a great networking opportunity for both business sponsors and attendees.

Carolyn Corporon is Vice President of Marketing for CosmoProf, under the umbrella of Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. As committee chair for the Denton Chamber Women in Commerce, Corporon decided to open her home and host the event. She and her husband often host large gatherings at their home throughout the year.

“I enjoy entertaining,” Corporon said. “It’s my pleasure to share our art collection and offer guests information about the various pieces collected over the years.”

Corporon has served as the committee chair for WINC ever since its inception.

Due to Corporon’s involvement with Women in Commerce, Sally Beauty Holdings, Inc. has become a strong supporter and partner for the Denton Chamber of Commerce. The Fall Luncheon and Red, White and Jazz event are Women in Commerce’s largest initiatives.

“The luncheon is a gathering exclusively dedicated to the professional development, mentoring and networking for women,” Corporon said. “Red, White and Jazz includes the broader community (friends, business partners and spouses) and focuses on the Chamber businesses.”

Chamber member Yoli Roy, owner of Yoli Chair Covers, enjoys attending Chamber events and found her first Red, White and Jazz event to be an opportunity to mix and mingle.

“I enjoy meeting new contacts and creating solid partnerships, especially in the wedding/special events industry,” Roy said.

This was her first time to attend Red, White and Jazz. Roy said her favorite parts of the event were the raffle and the live music.

Reanna Wallace, owner of Blissfully Organized, has attended every Red, White and Jazz event for the past three years.

“There is a lot of opportunities for business and social networking,” Wallace said. “I enjoy reconnecting with people that I’ve met at past pevents.”

Red, White and Jazz was not limited to women. Jason Bodor, senior director of finance and business strategy at GSATi, attended the event.

“It’s a great way to find out what is happing in Denton and keeping in touch with my local professional community,” Bodor said. “For GSATi, I get to market our business and raise awareness of our presence.”
