America is crushing the Olympics, the big election is looming overhead, and Justin Bieber recently quit Instagram. Lots of things (some more relevant than others) are going on in the world today. It’s no surprise that Fall is knocking on our front door and we didn’t event expect it! It even seems to be a little early given the lovely weather we have been experiencing. But you and I know Old Man Summer is not done with us yet. Is that a thing; “Old Man Summer?”
In pondering how unprepared my home currently is for my favorite season of the year (and how unprepared I am for the start of school NEXT WEEK), it occurs to me that there are many cool happenings around the corner, that you as a business owner may not have on your radar yet. And as you know, getting an early start to peak shopping season is of the essence.
When it comes to Fall, Denton knows how to do it right. Our community really seems to come to life with a number of events centered around the start of a new season, back to school, and some pretty major holidays.
The official kick-off to Fall is without question, the North Texas Fair and Rodeo, am I right? Nine epic days of rides, foods, musical performances, and RODEO watching set the stage for non-stop fun and entertainment. Events kick off this Friday and we couldn’t be more excited!
Oaktopia Fest on September 22-24, has a killer lineup along with various activities to celebrate the cultural awesomeness of Denton. Norah Jones anyone?
The Day of the Dead, which is our version of Halloween, is celebrated with music, theatrical performances, coffin races, trick or treating and a lot more! The scheduled date for this event is Saturday, October 29th. Will your business be racing a coffin at full speed while being cheered on by hundreds of spectators? I hear it is quite a rush!
Our community is also known for putting on a number of races throughout the year to benefit great causes. One of the many to look out for this Fall is the Downtown Denton Turkey Trot, organized by the Denton Area Running Club. An expected 2,500 runners will convene at the starting line on Thanksgiving morning to do some running before going home to feast on turkey and fixings. Great opportunities for company visibility here guys!
With the number of activities drawing large numbers of people out of their homes, you as a business owner can get creative in leveraging the opportunities. The Chamber has recently partnered with My Town Rocks; an app platform designed to reach local patrons in real time. Think of the possibilities! [Click here to attend the next info session.]
In conclusion, I think I know why Denton was acclaimed as one of the Most Fun Cities by Texas Highways. Wouldn’t you agree? Now get out there and make this the best Fall season yet!
