A Look Back at December and Happy Holidays!

Although most companies and organizations begin to die down around Thanksgiving we decided to give one last hoorah before the holidays.

Speed Network attendees converse in one-on-one sessions.

It started on December 8, with our Speed Networking Happy Hour. This networking format is based loosely off of the “speed dating” concept, and the one-on-one interactions help members increase their company’s visibility. I mean who doesn’t like to put a face to a company? Recently we have opened the event to nonmembers, with limited spots available.

Our Quarterly Luncheon was the next day. Dr. Lynn Stucky, Texas State Representative-elect for District 64, was the key-note speaker. Myra Crownover handed over the reins while telling a heartwarming story about her friendship with her successor Dr. Lynn Stucky. She also spoke on how appreciative she has been for District 64 to allow her to represent us for as long as she has, 16 years to be exact. Dr. Lynn Stucky spoke on how he views North Texas to be one of the greatest places to live, and that he plans to continue its success.

It doesn’t end there, on December 13, TJ’s Pizza Wings “N” Things held a ribbon cutting in celebration of their new location and 25 years of business. Congratulations you all! You’ll probably see me there often trying to warm up with a slice.

Lastly, on December 14 we held our New Member/ LEAD Delegate Mixer. This mixer is for those new members who might not feel comfortable enough to attend one of the larger events. This mixer allowed both new members and LEAD Delegates to get into the holiday spirit by encouraging a Christmas sweater dress code. There were prizes for those who wore the most outrageous sweaters. Some of those sweaters really “decked the halls.”

Ah, almost forgot, with a bulk of the holidays being around the corner, all of us from the Denton Chamber of Commerce would like to wish everyone Happy Holidays. Remember to have fun and stay safe. Also, be sure to bundle up! If you thought it was cold before you don’t want to see what’s approaching. See you all next year!
